Pass Christian . MaryAnn DeSalva’s book, Percy’s Special Gift, was released at a book signing and party at the West End in Waveland on May 7th.
Retired after 34 years of teaching high school English, MaryAnn, with her husband Dwight, began their journeys between Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Pass Christian, Mississippi.
It was in The Pass where the pelicans touched her heart and her imagination, and became the subject for her first children’s book, Percy’s Special Gift.
Percy is different from the other pelicans. No one knows about Percy’s secret…a special gift that enables him to protect those he loves.
This book is intended not only to amuse and entertain young listeners and readers, but also to inspire a respect for themselves and an acceptance of differences in others.

All proceeds from the sale of Percy’s Special Gift will be donated to the following charities: Make a Wish Foundation, Smile Train, and the Boys and Girls Clubs located in Pass Christian and Green Bay, Wisconsin.
